Pre-employment Screening
The purpose of this service is to ensure all new start
employees are able to perform their assigned duties. The Occupational Health Service will make a full assessment and forward any recommendations onto Line
Management in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
Interviewees are required to complete Health
Declaration Questionnaire OH/HQ/04 which is sent to the Occupational Health
Service in an envelope marked STRICTLY PRIVATE AND CONFIDENTIAL.
Following paper screening of the successful candidate
occupational health may require to make arrangements for an appointment to
conduct a Pre-Employment Screening.
The Occupational Health Service will report to Client's
authorised representative(s), in writing, the results of the medical examination
within days or, if requested, provide a verbal report on the day of the
paper/pre-employment screening.
Wellperson Screening/Voluntary Health Screening
A Wellperson screening is a confidential voluntary
health screen conducted by a Nursing Adviser. These can be carried out on-site or at remote sites using the Screening Van.
A Wellperson Screening is
a comprehensive medical assessment offering advice on lifestyle, diet and
fitness. Each appointment lasts approximately ¾ hour.
Wellperson screening can be offered to employees on the
following age-related basis other than in exceptional circumstances. i.e.
employees with special needs will be offered an appointment annually:
Information booklets can be produced by the
Occupational Health Department to promote the service.
Drug and Alcohol Screening
This service may be provided if requested for employees
who are performing potentially dangerous job functions or as specified by
management. Occupational Health can offer a service where we can introduce a
programme of random testing on individuals or groups. Any such service could
only be made available where management has liaised with union reps etc. in
accordance with company policy.
